Anxiety and Depression

Depression

Anxiety and Depression are among the most common forms of mental disturbance. Depression is a state of mind that results in a low mood. It can affect the way you think, behave, and feel. If you are suffering from depression you may feel sad, anxious, worthless, and hopeless. It is a disease that has many physical symptoms that can either increase or decrease your sleep, affect your appetite and be accompanied by unexplained aches and pains. It is a condition that changes your perspective on the world and can lead to you feeling isolated and alone.

Depression may not always be a psychiatric disorder. It is a normal reaction to certain life events that are traumatic and upsetting. Therapy is a proven method of tackling this state. A relationship that enables you to explore the difficult thoughts and feelings you have can alleviate the isolation you may feel and facilitate your journey to well being. Sometimes a combined treatment of medication and therapy is effective this should always be discussed with your GP.

Anxiety

Depression can be accompanied by feelings of apprehension. Anxiety can take many different forms and is a distressing disorder and can be an overwhelming feeling of worry and concern. Anxiety can cause feelings of fear, worry, uneasiness and dread. It can take may forms and can be accompanied by changes in normal behaviour patters such as eating and sleeping.

Anxiety disorders can sometimes be accompanied by panic attacks. Panic attacks again are individual and will be particular to you. You may experience a variety of physical and physiological symptoms that can be distressing and difficult to manage. At Ancora we aim to enable you to find the cause of your anxiety and find real and sustainable ways of managing your symptoms.
